familyNovella: Katie & Glenn.

Katie had ‘a thing’ for Glenn. They had spent four years together in Agriculture class. At some point, the joking and teasing and casual conversations turned into ‘a thing’. And it worked because Glenn had ‘a thing’ for Katie, too. I was in Agriculture class with Katie & Glenn, also. When you go way back like that, there are stories. Katie & Glenn reminded me of one of those stories when we were catching-up for two hours in the light of their truck headlights after their fotoshoot.

It was Glenn’s birthday, so Katie & I had apparently started brainstorming gift ideas. It had to be one of those gifts that says: I-have-a-thing-for-you…without being too serious, it being high school and all. So please cut Katie & I some slack on our thought process, but it went something like this: Glenn is a hunter; Glenn hunts ducks; we can’t afford a gun or a duck call, but what about a duck? We drove out to my barn, chased my little brother’s feathered friends around for a half-hour until we finally caught Donald, stuffed him in a box & tied a bow around it. (Okay, I don’t really remember if we tied a bow around it, but if we had it would have been most definitely my cheesy idea, not Katie’s.) I also don’t remember the details of the big reveal of Katie’s gift to Glenn: but it was in Agriculture class and it likely involved duck crap, & a half-hearted admonishing from Mr. Miller. We took Donald back to the barn, before Glenn could go for his rifle, but Glenn got Katie’s message: I have a thing for you.

Since our escapades in Agriculture class, Katie & Glenn married. They added several dogs to the family, but no ducks except during hunting season. And anyways, Katie decided a fotoNovella was a better way to tell Glenn: I have a thing for you.
